Press release from the ACEEE on the new energy bill
December 6, 2007
Today, the House of Representatives is considering one of the most significant pieces of energy legislation to happen so far this century. The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) just sent around a very nice analysis of the provisions – clipped in below.
ACEEE is extremely interested in conserving energy and saving consumers money. (You know all the energy tips on the CEP website? A very large chunk of them came from ACEEE’s online Consumer Guide.)
Here’s the best analogy I can come up with – many politicians want to cut taxes and save taxpayers money. ACEEE wants to slash energy use to save consumers money.
Taxpayers… consumers… hmm. I think there might be some overlap. Consumption isn’t the only way we all can make a difference when facing the problem of climate change. We are all citizens.

they got the music right ON for my demographic, too – I sat right up, then boogied a little in the desk chair. It made me want to run around unplugging everything.
Quotable – and I think I know who the woman is who said it, but since it is a video, she’s not cited: “How we respond to this problem of global warming identifies what it means to be human today. What kind of humans are we?”
