Just to summarize – last week, the House Energy and Utilities Committee passed out  HB 2014, a comprehensive energy bill. We are waiting for it to come out for a vote on the House floor. It is the first bill below the line on the House calendar, which means that it could be up for a vote tomorrow (or it could get moved above the line today, but that’s an outside policy). The bill mixes renewables policy with approval for the proposed coal plants.

This week, the Senate is also starting hearings on their own version of a comprehensive energy policy – SB 265. Those are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This bill also mixes renewables policy with approval for the proposed coal plants.

Of course, there’s lots else going on at the Capitol other than energy policy – there’s talk that Gov. Sebelius might veto the budget bill in part due to its cost-cutting on education, there’s talk that the Governor is considering the Health Secretary position with the Obama adminsitration, the Senate is debating  cigarette tax, and there’s next year’s budget and those cuts looming over everything… etc., etc.

I feel I should search for a happy note here… hmmm…

… the days are getting longer! there’s more sunlight now.
