Brownback Supports Production Tax Credit

February 3, 2012

Governor Sam Brownback doesn’t just talk the talk on renewable energy, he walks the walk.

Yesterday, Governor Brownback joined with Iowa Governor Branstad on a letter  to the Senate-House conference committee urging them to include an extension of the wind energy projection tax credit (PTC) on the expiring payroll tax cut legislation.

Branstad and Brownback have long supported wind energy and both lead states with a growing manufacturing base (Siemens has a nacelle factory in Hutchinson Kansas and a blade factory in Fort Madison Iowa).

While Iowa is ahead of the game in wind installations (more than 4200 by the end of 2012), Kansas is certainly making some strides to catch up.

We believe Senators Moran and Roberts both understand the value the wind industry has brought to Kansans and we hope they will put stock in Governor Brownback’s plea for extending the PTC.

If you see Governor Brownback, give him a high five – or just say thank you for his support of wind energy in Kansas!
